This page covers how to get the most from the apps and what to do when things aren't working. For background on working memory, see the articles on the Home page.
A good environment makes a real difference. A little preparation before you start can help you stay more focused during the same amount of time.
Rather than jumping to harder lengths, gradually pushing your limit makes training both easier to sustain and more meaningful.
Looking at your error patterns can show you where to focus.
Common patterns include forgetting the first digit, losing numbers in the middle, or getting the order wrong at the end. If order errors are frequent, try grouping the sequence into rhythmic chunks — like "3 digits + 3 digits" — as you hear them. The app doesn't rush your input. Take the time to organize the information in your head before entering it.
At some point you'll hit a stretch where lengths you handled yesterday suddenly feel impossible, or your best score doesn't improve for a while. This is normal.
The key is not to push harder. A stall doesn't mean your ability has dropped — it means your brain is working on a better approach. Drop back one or two digits and focus on regaining a steady, accurate rhythm. Taking a few days off completely is also a genuinely effective way to get unstuck.
